Swami Reveals Himself as Poorna Avatar
During my years in the UAE, while awaiting my family’s arrival, my life revolved around simple, self-created spiritual routines. Evenings were spent chanting Ashtotharam, singing bhajans (though my family would jokingly call it my “gusthi with Swami, since my singing was far from melodious), and reading books about Swami.
As an introverted person with no social activities and a modest lifestyle, these became my true source of joy and solace. I also experimented with meditation, practiced Yoga Nidra from books, and even got trained in Reiki. Though far from perfect, these spiritual pursuits filled my otherwise lonely days and gave me strength while I waited for my wife to complete her post-graduation studies and join me.
Cooking was another struggle, most often I survived on tinned green pea curry from a nearby restaurant, having never stepped into the kitchen back home under my mother’s watchful care! My Mother never allowed us to venture into the kitchen for anything as we may end up spoiling the whole
An Invitation Declined
One day, I received two complimentary passes to a grand music program at the Dubai Sheraton Hotel (Deira Creek). Stalwarts like Mr. Sivamani and Ustad Zakir Hussain were to perform. But my evenings were devoted to spiritual sadhana, and I chose not to attend. Instead, I gave away the passes to friends and spent the evening as usual—in prayer and meditation.
That night, around 3:30–4:00 am, Swami blessed me with a vision so profound that it remains etched in my heart forever.
The Dream Vision
I saw the very concert that I had declined to attend. The music was at its peak—powerful rhythms from Ustad Zakir Hussain’s tabla and Sivamani’s drums reverberated like thunder.
Suddenly, a majestic figure leapt onto the stage and began to dance to the high-octane music. His hair whirled, His feet struck the floor with vigor, and His movements merged perfectly with the rhythm. In that dazzling moment, I saw clearly—
It was Swami.
Dressed in His orange robe, with His hair flying, He danced with such energy and divine grace that the entire cosmos seemed to move with Him. I could even see the small dark mole on His chin.
Then, before my eyes, Swami transformed—
✨ He became Lord Shiva, enacting the mighty Tandava Nritya. The cosmic dance shook everything around.
✨ In the next instant, He dissolved into a blazing pillar of Light, pure Consciousness, radiant and boundless.
✨ He revealed Himself as the Universal Ātma, the Infinite Energy, the Poorna Avathar.
The vision was overwhelming. My whole body trembled; sweat poured down; my heart pounded as if it had leapt out of my chest. The vibrations were so intense that I could feel them for days afterwards.
The Viswaroopa Darshan
It was Swami’s will to bless me with this glimpse of His Viswaroopa. The brilliance was beyond my capacity to endure—I could only witness a fragment of His glory before the sheer magnitude became unbearable.
In that brief vision, Swami revealed His true nature:
From Sai → to Shiva → to the Universal Consciousness.
What greater proof of His being the Poorna Avathar could one ever ask for?
Reflections
Even today, I marvel at how a simple, ordinary devotee like me could be chosen to receive such a revelation. It took me years to realize that Swami’s dream-visions are no less than His physical darshan—often, they are even more direct, profound, and personal.
He has since blessed me with several other divine visions, each unique and unforgettable. But this one, where He revealed Himself as Sai, Shiva, and the Supreme Cosmic Energy, remains the most awe-inspiring moment of my life.
Truly, wonderful are His leelas. Boundless is His compassion. Infinite is His love.
Sairam.
